The Button

Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 19, 2026

The Button is designed to collect as little data as possible. No accounts, no login, no names, no emails. Here's exactly what happens with your data.

What we don't collect

What stays on your device

Your buttons are stored locally on your device. There is no database, no cloud sync, and no server-side copy. If you uninstall the app, your buttons are gone unless your device backup restores them.

How the app works

When someone presses a button, the server delivers a notification and forgets. No history is kept, no record of who pressed or who received it.

Device identifier

The app uses an anonymous device identifier to tell your presses apart from others. It is not tied to your identity and resets when you reinstall the app.

Analytics

We collect anonymous usage data to understand how the app is used — like how many buttons are created and how often they are pressed. This data is aggregated and cannot identify you.

Security

The app verifies that requests come from a genuine installation to prevent abuse. This check does not identify you.

Third-party services

The app relies on Google services for notifications, analytics, and security. Google's privacy policy applies to their processing of data: Google Privacy Policy.
